Full refurbishment of an unloved 1960's bungalow
A very interesting commission to fully refurbish a 1960's chalet bungallow allowed us to bring it into the 21st century, whilst not fully losing all of the original features. The Builoding was very tired, and had not seen any improvements for decades, the plot was overgrown, and tree rootd had damaged the drains. Internally the story was no better. The kitchen was "from the ark" as were the bathrooms.
The building also contained quite a bit of asbestos that needed removal, and the first floor was only part converted. The conversion was not done to building regulations and was structurally unsafe with the floors not strong enough to support the weight of the bedroom above.
A further bedroom within a large rear dormer, and truly sumptuous bathroom in the unconverted attic were created on the first floor, and a full refurbishment of the ground floor undertaken. New bifold doors were added to link the living room to the improved garden, and flood light into the home.
Architecturally the external of the property will never be stunning, but our work inside this property has made sense of the layout, added additional bedrooms, and enhanced the property beyond what the client thought possible when she contacted us.
