Solam Sizer
Chartered Architectural Technologist, Chartered Building Engineer, and Party Wall Surveyor
2017 Women in Construction and Engineering Award winner "Best Female Architectural Technologist in Europe", Solam has a proven track record for designing and delivering award winning innovative buildings. Solam has an international degree in Architecture, and practice as a Chartered Architectural Technologist (MCIAT), Chartered Building Engineer (as a fellow), and Party Wall Surveyor.
Solam has a passion for education and raising skills in the UK construction Industry, and sits on the Education Board for The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.
This lead role involves the assessment of University Curricula against the CIAT criteria for accreditation, which requires all accredited institutions to meet a standard of academic attainment that aligns with membership criteria for CIAT, and prepares graduates for the rigours of the Industry as a whole. It also involves periodic assessment of the relevance of standards which form the basis of curriculum development such as her recent work on the SQE standards for HND provision in Scotland. Solam also voluntarily assess Individuals’ application for Chartership as part of the membership assessment panel.
As a dual national of Colombia and the UK, Solam is fluent in Spanish, and a registered Architect in Colombia.
She is passionate about education and engagement of young professionals, and take a lead role in championing this, alongside promoting professional standards in practice. This includes contributing toward the development of young people within my practice, and within her contact sphere.
In her time off, Solam enjoys travel, reading, cinema, and the occasional mojito!
